My public sculpture 'The Lens Trees', in the University area right in the centre of the oldest part of Amsterdam, was long in need of having the transparent protective discs over the 6 fresnel lenses completely replaced. The Amsterdam University course 'Placemaking', led by Sanneke Stigter, worked hard from 2022 to 2024 to bring this matter into public attention. At last a few months ago, the Amsterdam City Council gave the order to the Kunstwacht company to carry out this long overdue job. The lenses were dismantled, the old yellowed protective discs were removed, and new clear perspex discs were put in their place (2 discs for each fresnel lens). The result is now again on permanent display - Binnengasthuisplein, Amsterdam.
